St. Patty’s Day in Your New San Antonio Home

Did you know Saint Patrick’s Day is right around the corner? It sure can sneak up on you! If you have been preoccupied with unpacking and moving into your new San Antonio home, don’t worry! Your San Antonio moving and storage service providers have some St. Patty’s ideas to put smiles on your children’s faces.

Decorations

This is the first holiday (yes, it is a holiday!) that you are spending in your new home, so have fun decorating it!

  • The easiest, and maybe most festive, way to decorate your home is to hang a St. Patty’s Day themed wreath on your front door. It will welcome new neighbors with a bit of fun! You can find a simple wreath from the craft store and jazz it up yourself. Hot glue gun on four-leaf clovers, green ribbons, and maybe letters that spell out “lucky” or “Irish.” You can even make your entire wreath out of green clothes pins pinned around a wire frame.

  • To decorate the interior of your home, fill glass jars with green M&Ms or green pebbles, and buy green flowers for your dining room table’s center piece.

  • And do not forget to hang your kids’ St. Patty’s crafts on the refrigerator!

Crafts

St. Patty’s Day is such a fun holiday for kids! Let their imaginations run wild with rainbows, leprechauns and pots of gold, and take coloring and painting to new levels on St. Patty’s Day!

  • Have your kids draw rainbows leading to a pot of gold and help them make their gold shimmer with glitter. Let them draw leprechauns and add googly eyes and pom poms to create a fuzzy beard.

  • You can help them make decorations that are a little more elaborate, like a rainbow wind catcher. Paint a paper towel roll in rainbow colors, then punch holes in the bottom, and tie a long piece of green ribbon to each hole. Make sure to slightly curl the ribbon. You can add cutouts of shamrocks too. Hang your creation from a tree and enjoy!

Food

There are a ton of treats you can make that are St. Patty’s Day-themed. Dying everything with green food coloring is an easy trick, but we have a few ideas that go the extra mile.

  • For breakfast, we have a great St. Patty’s Day treat. Pick out about ½ cup of marshmallows from a Lucky Charms box. Mix them into some pancake batter, and of course, add a few drops of green food coloring. Festive and delicious!

  • Here is a “lucky” twist on Rice Krispie treats: make the treats the normal way, but add the obligatory green food coloring. And instead of cutting them into traditional squares, use a shamrock cookie cutter!

  • If you are looking for something a little healthier, make a rainbow out of fruits. Line strawberries, oranges, pineapple, green grapes and blueberries into a rainbow form. Add a small black bowl at one end and fill it with almonds for your “gold,” and a small pile of yogurt covered raisins for a cloud. You may even get your kids to eat some fruit!

Now that you have some ideas, happy St. Patty’s decorating! Your San Antonio moving company knows you will make the day fun for your family!
