The Brewery District is a diverse neighborhood located south of the central business district of Columbus and west of German Village. Explore the inviting nature of our community with the help of our Columbus movers.
For roughly 200 years, the Brewery District has been an important part of Columbus. The Brewery District surrounds Interstate 70, South Pearl Street, Greenlawn Avenue, and the Scioto River. Immigrants first explored the area in the 1800s and were the first to settle in the South Columbus area. The settlers used their unique skills as brewers and stonemasons to develop those industries in the region. Due to their useful skills, they eventually built a community that is now known as German Village and the Brewery District.
City Brewery became the first brewery in our community in 1836 by Louis Hoster, a German immigrant. Over time, homes began to develop around the surrounding breweries. In 1919 the area was turned over by industry owners and warehouses.
A large-scale redevelopment is currently taking place, intending to expand the neighborhood. The Brewery District movers have noticed the recent construction of upscale apartments and lofts, a theater, winery, restaurants and bars. Today, the Brewery District is one of the most sought after neighborhoods for work and pleasure.
