We love having our pets inside with us and sometimes even snuggled in our beds. Though we love our furry family members very much, any pet owner knows that having a pet means constant cleaning of your home. So how do you stay on top of keeping your house clean with pets? Our Omaha residential movers can tell you with these tips for keeping a home clean with pets.
Staying ahead of the pet hair can be a challenge, especially if you have a pet that sheds a lot. Our Omaha movers understand the challenge of keeping your houses clean with pets and have gathered some tips we think will help!
1. Clean Your Pets RegularlyThe easiest way to keep your house clean with pets is to make sure that your pets are groomed regularly. This doesn't mean that you need to take your pet to a professional groomer every day, but it does help to have grooming tools on hand at home.
There also is no need to give your pet a bath every day, as it's not good for their fur or skin, but you can wash your pet off with some water or pet wipes before letting them into your home after being outside. You will also want to make sure your pets have regular grooming or hair cut appointments to limit the hairball tumbleweeds.
2. Make Sure You Have the Right Furniture in Your HomeMaking sure that you have the right upholstering for your furniture is also a key in keeping your house clean with pets. If your pet is allowed to get on the couch with you, having a fabric couch will always trap the hair of your pet, even if they're not on it anymore. It will also trap their scent.
Try to purchase leather or closely woven fabrics that are the same shade of your pet (if you can). If you're not willing to purchase a whole new couch just for your pet, there are plenty of couch covers that are easily machine washable and will keep your couch looking new.
3. Purchase the Proper VacuumKeeping your house clean with pets calls for having the creme de la creme of vacuums. When shopping for household appliances, make sure to purchase a vacuum that not only picks up dirt and debris, but can also thoroughly collect pet hair. These vacuums will have more powerful suction and a better filter than the average vacuum. Finding a vacuum that works well on upholstery is a plus as well.
To stay on top of a pet that sheds a lot, it's best to vacuum every day, or get a robot vacuum to help out.
4. Keep Your Pet's Toys and Bed CleanKeeping your house clean with pets means keeping your pet's things clean as well. Most pet items are machine washable, but for the ones that aren't, consider throwing them away and replacing them. For the items that are machine washable such as pet beds, try adding some baking soda or vinegar to the detergent to neutralize odors.
