New Roads, LA - On June 24th, Pointe Coupee Animal Shelter in New Roads, LA was robbed. The animal shelter, housing 89 canines, was stripped of all their medication, supplies, and dog food. What came next from this horrific burglary was help from our very own Baton Rouge movers from All My Sons Moving & Storage and Camp Bow Wow, who collected donations for the Pointe Coupee animal shelter.
On Monday morning, July 1st, Carol Vincent, the adoption director, welcomed All My Sons Moving & Storage of Baton Rouge and Camp Bow Wow to the shelter to graciously accept a truckload of donations and supplies.
Tristan Henderson, a general manager from All My Sons Moving & Storage, said his wife works at Camp Bow Wow and decided to bring the two forces together, delivering an estimated $19,700 dollars, enough medical supplies to last the year, and enough dog food to last about two months. Instead of using multiple trucks to deliver the supplies, All My Sons Moving & Storage offered one large truck to deliver all the supplies at once.
The burglary not only left the staff and volunteers at Pointe Coupee animal shelter shaken, but some dogs were also visibly scared. Despite the unfortunate nature of the incident, it also put a spotlight on the shelter. Vincent is using this brief moment in the media to raise awareness about spaying and neutering pets in order to reduce the number of strays who end up at a shelter, waiting for their furever home. Vincent is also happy to announce that two of the dogs who were featured on the news due to the burglary have been adopted.
This Louisiana intuitive shows just how strong our community is when faced with crime and disaster. It is the Louisiana way to come together and help the community when our fellow residents need it. All My Sons Moving & Storage is proud to assist the community with materials, donations, and helping hands to those who need it most.
The Pointe Coupee no-kill animal shelter is a private organization with no affiliation to the local government. If you would like to learn more about this shelter, Camp Bow Wow or our Baton Rouge moving company, call us at 225-230-2404.
