Summer break is coming up! That means the kids are going to be home all week, all day long. This is the perfect time for family bonding. Atlanta is a city full of fun things to do if you know where to look. Our movers at All My Sons Moving & Storage Atlanta are here to help. Here are three kid-friendly activities to do in Atlanta during the summer break.
1. Museums That Won't Bore Your Kids
A museum may not be the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of things to do with your kids. Avoid the quieter and more formally academic museums in favor of these kid-friendly ones. Your kids can have fun while still learning new things.
Children's Museum of Atlanta- Best for children age 8 and below, this museum offers interactive and immersive exhibits with plenty of games and other fun activities.
Center for The Puppetry Arts- Holding more than 200 puppets, kids can see their favorite puppet characters like The Muppets and enjoy special puppet performances.
LEGOLAND Discovery Center- A 30,000-square-foot play area, you and your kids can look at the impressive LEGO installations, ride LEGO-themed rides, catch a movie in their 4D theater, or just sit down and put together LEGO bricks.
High Museum of Art - The most formal and adult-minded museum of the ones listed here, High Museum of Art houses thousands of modern and contemporary art works. Bring your kids to their special exhibitions that often feature interactive art installations.
2. Hang Out with Animals
If your children are animal lovers, Atlanta has some of the best places for your family to go and interact with all different species of animals. The Georgia Aquarium is the largest aquarium in the world! You can view more than 100,000 sea creatures, catch a sea lion and dolphin show, or even swim with the world's largest sharks — whale sharks.
In the middle of Atlanta's historic Grant Park, Zoo Atlanta is home to more than a thousand animals. Kids can enjoy the playground, carousel, and splash fountain. Then they can meet the animals such as Zoo Atlanta's world-famous pandas, including the only giant panda twins in the country — Ya Lun and Xi Lun!
3. Take an Exciting Ride or Two
There are also kid-friendly activities to do in Atlanta for thrill seekers. Ride a gondola that takes you 20 stories up and experience a breathtaking view of the city with Skyview Atlanta, a giant Ferris wheel in the middle of the downtown area. If you're seeking even more exhilarating thrills, hop on over to Six Flags Over Georgia. This 290-acre theme park is chock-full of rides, roller coasters, shows, and other family attractions.
