Zoo Atlanta: The Zoo lies in Grant Park near downtown Atlanta and encompasses almost 40 acres of forests and greenery. Naturalistic habitats are provided for Zoo Atlanta's more than 1,000 animals, which represent over 200 animal species. There are many family friendly activities in the zoo and this zoo is home to the largest collection of gorillas in the United States.
The Georgia Aquarium: Located in the heart of Downtown Atlanta, the Georgia Aquarium is the largest aquarium in the world. The Georgia Aquarium offers a number of great programs, including scheduled group and family sleepovers, swim and dive programs for ages 12 and older, special toddler activities and many special events. It is definitely a great place to spend the day (or night!) with your family.
The World of Coca-Cola: Stationed in the heart of downtown Atlanta, next to the aquarium, The World of Coca Cola features exhibits and interactive activities, such as a 4D movie, product sampling, the Coca-Cola polar bears, and an extensive gift shop with many unique souvenirs.
The Center of Puppetry Arts: Positioned in the midtown Atlanta area, this unique venue is the largest non-profit organization dedicated to puppetry in the entire United States. Even Jim Henson puppets are at the center, and children of all ages love The Muppets! Featuring performances, workshops, a hands-on Museum and Museum Store, the Center offers puppetry presentations and experiences for all ages, including teens and adults as well as younger children.
Sporting events: Atlanta is home to the Atlanta Falcons, the Atlanta Braves, the Atlanta Hawks, and other professional team games are great activities to enjoy with the entire family. Whether you like baseball, soccer, hockey, football—Atlanta has something for everyone!
Stone Mountain Park: Located less than 20 miles from downtown Atlanta, Stone Mountain Park is Georgia's most popular attraction. Stone Mountain Park is well worth a day-trip during your Atlanta family vacation, and it contains over 3,200 acres of park, lake and woodlands plus attractions and recreational activities. During the winter months, one area is even transformed into a snowy winter wonderland.
