Orlando At A Glance

Located in Central Florida, Orlando is one of the world's most visited family destinations, welcoming millions of visitors per year. Home to Disney World, Universal Orlando, waterparks, aquariums, zoos, shows, and many other entertainment opportunities, Orlando has much to offer no matter where you turn. These famous attractions form the backbone of Orlando's tourism industry. Although the attractions are a major component, you'll notice there's much more to the city after you move to Orlando. The population of Orlando continues to rise, with over 277,000 residents calling it home - including you! The Central Florida movers at All My Sons Moving & Storage welcome you to the Sunshine State.

As your Central Florida movers stated before, some of the main driving forces in Orlando's economy are the Walt Disney World Resort, Universal Orlando Resort, SeaWorld Orlando, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and Fun Spot America Theme Parks. With that being said, Orlando has most definitely earned its nickname of the “Theme Park Capital of the World”. The Walt Disney World Resort is home to many well-known places, such as the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios, Disney's Animal Kingdom, Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach, and Disney Springs.

After your move to Orlando, we suggest heading to the Downtown area to check out the local-style taverns, modern bars, rooftops, nightclubs, and more. Universal's lively CityWalk also has plenty of bars, restaurants, and live shows for new residents and visitors to relish in.

We know that moving to a new home can work up an appetite, so whether you're looking to grab a quick bite to eat or spend quality time in a celebrity-affiliated restaurant, you can find anything you're looking for at Downtown Disney, Downtown Orlando, Universal's CityWalk, or International Drive. All four of these locations are easily accessible and are most definitely deemed to be where you'll spend a reasonable amount of time after a fresh move to Orlando.

The city of Orlando is home to the NBA team Orlando Magic, and Orlando City SC, an American professional soccer club in Orlando that competes in the Eastern Conference in Major League Soccer. It's also home to the University of Central Florida, the region's largest undergraduate-enrolling institution, and one of the largest universities in the United States.

Orlando has a humid subtropical climate, like much of the rest of Florida. Many of Orlando's climate characteristics are due to it's proximity to the Gulf Stream, flowing around Florida's peninsula. Although not as high as South Florida's, Orlando has a considerable hurricane risk. However, it's good to know that hurricanes usually weaken by the time they near Orlando.

There's plenty of other destinations you can visit near Orlando. Although it's located right in Central Florida, a leisurely drive can bring you to two of the most famous beaches, Cocoa Beach and Daytona Beach. Especially if you have yet to experience the lovely beaches in the Sunshine State after your move to Orlando, grab your towel, cooler, and some sunscreen and get those toes in the sand!
