Summer Social Distancing Activities with Friends

Summertime is the perfect season to get together for backyard BBQs, pool parties, sleepovers, and good group fun. With the recent global spread of COVID-19, the meaning of summer has changed a little. Though stay-at-home orders have been lifted, many people are still hesitant to go outdoors or gather in large groups. There are some states, like Florida, where quarantine restrictions are being lifted and families and young adults are ready to get back outside and enjoy the warmth of the summer. It still very important to make sure that we are following social distancing guidelines even though places are starting to open back up to the public. Our movers in Fort Myers want to share some fun social distancing activities for summer to keep yourself and others safe while making this a memorable season.

Fun Social Distancing Activities For Summer You Will Love

COVID-19 has drastically changed the way we go about our every day lives. From the amount of time we spend outside our homes to the number of people we surround ourselves with, nothing is the way it was last year - or even the beginning of 2020. As there are new developments in the coronavirus crisis, people are beginning to learn how to live in the new normal. We can empathize with the desire to have a fantastic summer doing all the fun summer stuff we love instead of spending the season in quarantine. That is why our Fort Myers residential movers have come up with activities that follow the proper social distancing measures this summer.

Camping TripSummer camps may still be closed across the country, but that does not mean that your kids cannot have a traditional summer camp experience in the backyard or on an actual campground. Camping is one of the perfect social distancing activities for summer because it allows people to maintain their distance from others without detracting from a great experience! Pack up your camping gear and spend a night under the stars with your family for an authentic overnight summer camp experience. Don't forget the graham crackers, chocolate, and marshmallows for delicious s'mores!

SwimmingDepending on the state that you are in, the local pool or aquatic center may be available for use. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a properly chlorinated pool should deactivate the virus in the water,1 but you will want to follow social distancing measures this summer by spacing out 6 feet or more on the pool deck and avoiding shared public areas.

Beach DayOf all the summer social distancing activities there are, nothing says SUMMER like the beach! If, like most Floridians, you can't wait to take a dip in the Gulf of Mexico this summer on Fort Myers Beach, rest assured that you are safe from getting COVID-19 from ocean water. Nevertheless, be sure to practice social distancing measures this summer by not only staying 6-feet apart, but by also wearing a mask or face covering when you are not in the water; droplets from a neighboring person's cough or sneeze can carry in the wind.

TravelThe thought of going to an airport or getting on a plane right now can seem a little far-fetched, but you can still travel during a pandemic as long as you take the appropriate precautions. You may not be able to go on international trips right now, but you can visit other states you've never seen. Do your part - wear a mask (unless you're eating or drinking), carry hand sanitizer whether you're traveling by plane or otherwise, wash your hands every chance you get, and continue following social distancing measures this summer.

If flying still seems a little too much for you, there is nothing like a good, old-fashioned, cross-country road trip! Pack up your car, your family, and even your dog for a nationwide adventure! Don't forget face masks, hand sanitizer, and sanitizing wipes to ensure you're doing everything you can to stop the spread of the coronavirus during this fantastic social distancing activity for summer!
